Artisan wine

October 3, 2008

I’m very excited to announce that soon -October 15th- Artwork created by my husband and I will appear on a wine label. The wine is found here. Our little bio is found here.

The art is entitled “The Wedding” and it is a photograph created by my husband that I then painted and applied silverleaf onto, it was a part of a group show in Mendocino entitled ” Honoring the Feminine”

The tasting notes on the wine are as follows: “Inky dark red in color, aromas of black cherry, graphite, licorice and tea leaves draw you into the glass. Black cherry carries through to the palate, joined by boysenberry, dark plum, a touch of chocolate and a hint of blueberry, gently embraced by fine tannins through a velvet finish that begs for another sip.”

YUM! Hope you get a chance to try it, I can just taste it now….

One of my all time favorite children’s books…

October 2, 2008

There is a reason why I became the illustrator that I am today. My mother read books to me at night for many years, it started with picture books and continued on to Astrid Lindgren’s incredible stories.

One of the most memorable picture books was certainly Tove Janssons layered and magical “Hur Gick Det Sen?”

This is published in English too but my favorite is the swedish language version.

Feeling uninspired? Look at nature!

September 27, 2008

These guys are just the sweetest. You just can’t get more design-y than the spots on a giraffe. Don’t you just love nature? This was a shot taken by my husband at Safari West in Napa, California. What an adventure.

childhood loves are with us for life

childhood loves are with us for life

I’ve added some links to keep us all inspired. I check on these everyday- at least the ones that are updated that frequently. I feel like it keeps me connected to what I like, design wise anyway. Knowing what you like I think this helps to define your personal style as a designer, illustrator, consumer etc.

unchartered waters:
finding your path and enjoying the journey
I am trying to find a path, find a voice and make it true.
Making a living would be a nice bonus as well.
